I thought it was just linear displacement system. Another 'neat trick' to this mission is to detach your tfighters before you start, and have them distract the gunstars.
Uh.... yeah! That works too! ;)

Like I said, I was unsure about the s word in LDS.

lol...funny how LDS is still just under light speed hugh? You would think they would have developed it to travel much faster than it is unstead of developing a capsole drive. Well at least you dont have the affects of relitivity and have to use a "Park Shift" (anyone who has read the Ender series of books by Orson Scott Card would understand what i was talking about :D.

Err anyway I can justify the under light speed thing (cuz i know some of you in the past have tried to tell me it is way faster then light speed). Is cuz if you went any faster you would slam into planets in seconds unstead of it taking minutes to get from one to another in a system. Ok thats all...

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few - Spock (ya so it aint IW related :p)

Its been sucha long time and IW2 still rocks my sox just as much...who woulda figured eh?

Actually the LDS Drives in IWar2 travel faster than the speed of light. There's a comment in one of them left there by the programmers saying they must "fix this later".

Travelling around a solar system at light speed would be boring, as it'd take forever. For example it takes 8 minutes for light from the sun to reach the earth, and over six hours to reach pluto!

We were hoping to put time acceleration in the game, when you go into LDS (Like the first game), to speed up travel times, but in the end it was simpler just to speed up the LDS drives.

We did debate at some point to put a time acceleration prompt on the screen when you go into LDS to give the illusion that we are time accelerating, but we didn't do it in the end. It'd be relatively easy to script in Pog if anyone wants to do it :)

I see...so you just never got that fixed. Ok i guess that makes since. So if you can slow it down to lightspeed levels, can you speed it up? I was asking about this in another post...er...here: www.i-war2.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=129

Go TOO fast and you'll blow up.

You'll be going so fast you won't see the planet you just hit. <img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>
