Hey everyone,

Cambragol and I have been really busy with Real Life and only have a little progress to report. Not to surprising, the wingman code changes have broken many things and lots of new bugs are being found.

I am working my way through the commands one by one fixing the broken text messages. Cambragol is testing the long duration play features. (Like what? you ask?) Well, mining rigs and science survey vessels dock to asteroids and operate for many days. They are happy to cut rock while the player is flying in other systems. But don't leave them unguarded for long, because they are pretty vulnerable.

Since we did major surgery on the wingman code, we are taking the time to add a few voice messages into the game. With a little luck, the middle states will soon be much less "empty" feeling.

well, as long as Unstable Space/Traffic comes out eventually, I can be damn patient ^^, Remember, however, that if neither US/Traffic or Entropy ( www.binstar.com , completely procedural-based Elite-like game that sims down to GRASS AND ROCKS level on planets and up to galactic level - 500K+ stars w/ systems - like Frontier o.O) actually is ever released, I'll have to go on a rampage! >.< RAWR! RUN IN TEH PH34R!

It's my belief that these sheep are laborin' under the misapprehension that they're birds. Observe their behavior. Take for a start the sheeps' tendency to 'op about the field on their back legs. (off-screen baa-ing) Now witness their attempts to fly from tree to tree. Notice that they do not so much fly as...plummet.

Surgeon-General's Warning: Early test cases of Torn Stars have resulted in fatalities. The errors in the software should be gone by now. Hopefully.

Dec 10th Status

Cambragol and I managed to get in several solid hours of bug hunting and the mod went from totally broken (you could not trade cargo or mine) back to working.

The behavior of the wingmen is markedly improved over Torn Stars. A large number of minor irritations caused by the prior design have been fixed. Things like unarmed transports rushing off to attack because they have the same escort order as the warships. Or transports being left behind because they don't formate correctly after loading/unloading cargo pods.

Despite all this progress, I don't think we will be ready to start Alpha testing before New Years. The holidays are busy, and I will not have time to setup testing properly. This is disapointing, because I wanted to see the game get a proper bashing and smashing during the winter vacation. The wingman commands are the last major hurdle before we can start Alpha, so it won't be much after the holiday.

Hey, GP, I'm also still lurking here. Just wanted to tell you the 'Keep up the good work!'. I still sometimes want to also code sth. but still haven't got free time. :(
