I have left-handed friends who use right-handed joysticks with their right hands. It's not like you're using it to write stuff on a sheet of paper.

as a leftie who uses a joystick in his right hand I concur. For simulation type games it's not hard to learn to use a stick in your "wrong" hand. In the old days things were quite different (action games for c64, amiga).

That's what I've had to do. In fact even though I have a Saitek Cyborg 3D stick that can be configured for left or right handed use, I still use it right handed.
