Yes, the insanely high speeds, incredibly fast turning rates and incredibly long weapon ranges are the primary culprits for the ships seeming to be smaller than the behemoths that they really are.

can anyone repost the comparassion between the Imperial Star Destroyer and the EoC ships??? I really want to see the image, but its not online anymore.
Does anyone realizes how HUGE these ships are? A Star Destroyer is 1,6 (1.6 to english users) kilometers long... and, some few hundred meters tall (the bridge alone must be the height of an 80 floors building... about 300 meters)... and the Star Destroyer is also very wide (because of triangular shape).
Think about it... the largest ocean ships today are like 300 or 400 meters long and they are incredible huge... and an Star Destroyer and EoC ships are 3, 4, 5 times that size!!

I did a comparassion graphic between an Imperial Star Destroyer, the USS Nimitz Aircraft Carrier and some of the tallest buildings in the world. Notice how massive a Star Destroyer is.
Now... people said some Independence War ships are larger than a Star Destroyer... so you can only imagine how big they are!
If someone has good graphics (preferably schematics) and stats of size of EoC ships, I can add them to this graphic...

You're just looking in the wrong place. That's my picture you're talking about, and it's been right here all the time.
www.i-war2.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1464
But, for the sake of expediency. . .
I have lot's of pics like this that I made. I was going to make a gallery of every EoC size comp pic ever made, I just never got around to it. Maybe I'll do it tonight.
I recommend checking out that other post though, there are some other cool comp pics of mine there.
And yes, it's true; Star Destroyers are very big.
It's probably important to note however: When you quote a length of 1600 meters, it's generally an "Imperator" type Star Destroyer that you're talking about. Not one of the many different-sized variants.
Nice pic yourself, btw.
*edit*
Well, I've made a website gallery of all the size comparison pics I currently have. If anybody has pics they can add, please send them to me.

Mind if I add your pic to the galleries, AcesHigh?

nope, you can obviously add my pic.
I know about the different sizes of Star Destroyers... Ive played X-Wing games... there are at least two more ISD classes in the game... and according to websites, there are many more... man... I wish Lucas Arts would release a new X-Wing game... with modern, good graphics...
VERY cool site btw... but I cant see any image on it... only the thumbnails!! I wonder why this is happening.
Do you know where I can download a Star Destroyer ship model to IoC?

Sorry you're having trouble. You're the second person so far. I don't know what the problem could be. I'm not very knowledgeable about website construction. I'll go over the code and see if I can get something worked out. What browser are you using?
With reguard to your last question: Did you mean EoC, or is IoC something else? If you did mean EoC; right now, my Star Destroyer is the only one currently in EoC (you can see it on my homepage). But it's not going to be available until the Wings of Defiance mod beta is out this spring (hopefully). But if you've got Lightwave, you could always convert an existing model, or make you own. Check my tutorial stickied in the 3D forum for lot's of good info on getting models into the game.
