Every time i thought about it when i saw at my I-War poster on my room i asked this question and one day i think i found the answer:
Basic thrusters (not LDS). The ship has thrusters points to move front, roll, yaw... but i have not seen the thrusters to "stop" (move backwards) the ship. I think this is the point where the "backwards" thrusters are placed. They are SO big compared to the "roll thrusters" because they are so heavily used as the "rear main thrusters" are.
Well, this is only a thought 'cause anybody has seen it in an in-game animation like the other thursters, but think, it's a "needed physiks" tip in the design of the Corvette. Maybe just PS forgot to make an animation for them
