Request: Autosave after Jump

Ok the games crashes sometime, much more then just EoC before.

And there is no need to dock mainly. So there is no autosave during the normal gameseason. Yes i can allways Save, but Murphys know when you didn't saved for a while and let the game crash. <!-- s:-( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":-(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:-( -->

So maybe you can add an Autosave after or before jumping ?

Let's talk about this feature idea. Everyone can say how they think.

I like the idea of an automatic save. The trouble is that the save is slow (takes a second to finish) and there will be a pause. The second trouble is that the traffic will be different when you load the save back up. There are no perfect saves in EoC.

But if you can stand the pause every time you jump, and can stand the traffic being different when you return, then this feature could be added to Unstable Space.

If you decide to put in autosave before jump, please make it optional. I frankly am more into saving at any time during the game regardless if traffic will be the same afterwards. If there happens to be a battle at hand and I am not into wanting to engage in fighting at that time I would much rather want to be able to save when I want than be forced into doing something I don't want to do at that time. That was one of the things I did not like about EOC originally, the fact that it forced you to save based on the developers ideas instead of your desires. Even now, I have edited my game to be able to save at my leisure. What ever you do, do not force people into a mold, give them a choice and let them make the decision as to how they will execute it. That is what makes the difference between mediocre games and really great games. Read the writeups on the recently GavCiv II as an example.

I would not take away the other saves. This save would be in addition. If beta testing still finds crashes, I will add an autosave.
