Can not patch the EOC Game

Hey People!

eveytime when i start the eoc_patch_1.exe or the eoc_patch_2.exe, the Installer say me that the current version of the game is F14 and its not neccesary to install it. and that was it... end of the program. without the patch, i can not use mods!

I have already made various attempts:
1. I reinstalled the game several times at different directories , no chance
2. I tried the different compatibility modes with and without administrator rights (with the patch files)
3. I tried to unpack the eoc_patch_2.exe file manually with various tools(7z, universal extractor and resource hacker), no chance

my operating system is windows 10

I hope someone can help me,

You probably patched the game before. There is a key in the registry where the version information is stored:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Particle Systems\Edge of Chaos\Settings]

The key is "Version". I don't know what number it needs to be set to, though.If I find the time, I can install my old F12 CD version.

In my registy(upgradet win7 to win10) the key is at the following location:

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Particle Systems\Edge of Chaos\Settings

key: "Version"
replace value "e" to "a"

Whew, sixteen years... I don't even know if Particle Systems had been bought out yet at the time.
