Hi!

First of all, I come from Germany so my englisch may not be that good.

I have started playing this game yesterday and must say that it is very interesting. But I also have a problem. Is it not possible to completely rotate my ship in space, like in other space simulators (Wing Commander)? I can fly forward (w), backwards (s), and sideways (a,d). But what about up and down or diagonal? The ship only rotates when I activate an autopilot. Right now I am at the beginning of the game (training). And because of this weird movement of my ship I just can not get past the first training excercise (fly through the rings in 3 minutes). Am I just too stupid to play this game or are there some movements that I have not discovered yet? I do not have the game manual because I bought this game together with a games magazine. And the readme file does not help me with this problem.

I hope that my english is good enough to understand, and that someone here can help me.

Greetings to all IW2 Fans!

It got me at first too. Use the numpad arrow keys (2,4,6,8) for turning, and 1,3 for rolling.

You guys are not using joysticks? You are braver than I am. Most joysticks have a twist handle. You rotate your ship with that twist. Your ship can fly up and down and diagonal. Many people change these keys to be the hat button on a joystick, so they can dodge very quickly.

The game is very hard. Very, very hard at first because your ship is so poor. You will get better. And you must only attack from surprise. Never fight many enemies at once. Learn to RUN AWAY!

Correction, if you battle several enemies, engage them from behind, preferably with disrupters. Taking down a 4 tug escort with disrupters is almost cheating. Taking them down with other weapons is not too hard if you come from behind, full power to weapons and you can blast 2 of them before they can react. Though they get a missile out often before blowing up..

No I don't use joystick. I once tried it long time ago with other games, I never liked it. It's not as accurate as mouse, and I'm used to keyboard when I can't use mouse. Fps background might have something to do with it, though I play btech games with mouse+keyb too.

Ok so if I had a joystick I could rotate my ship. The problem is I do not have one. I have tried everything with keyboard and mouse but the problem still remains. So how do I rotate my ship with mouse and/or keyboard?

Keyboard:

Numpad numbers 2,4,6,8 work like normally your arrow keys would, except up/down is reversed (2 is up, 8 is down)

numbers 1,3 roll your ship clock/anticlockwise. Hope this helps.
