First in the beginning of act 3 when I go to the ritz has anyone had a problem with being turned away? I know from the faq's that when I return to base I'm supposed to get an apology, but I haven't gotten one? Is this a scripting problem or am I doing something wrong?
Next: am I suck with the tug the entire game or can I get some kind of ship upgrade, I love the game but the same ole tug is booorrring.
and I would like to get a little more firepower, where should I look?
three questions haha....

You may have to enter then leave the base, and enter again to get the email.
If you do get the email from Indigo, then if you want a new ship it's good to do what she asks

If this is the mission i think it is you should go to the lpoint you get in the contect list, jump into a mindfield with a few corvettes, kill em all, wait for the convoy and form with them and destroy 3 wawes of attacking marauders during travel.
In my oppinion this is THE hardest mission in the game because wingmen are stupid and you have to replay it all again if one of the freighters is destroyed. But the reward is also the best ship in the game.

but the thing is is that 3 out of 4 times when I go through the first L-point I fail the mission, the marauders aren't there and the comp guy tells me that I left everyone, I swear I love this game but if it keeps up I won't be able to take this, I don't mind replaying stuff, but but inconsistency is frustrating.

It's a bug in the scripting.
Your autopilot routes you through the nearest L-point which will shorten the trip to your destination. It's a computer... the only way it can choose which route to take is to always take the shorter one.
It just so happens that the meeting point for the MCA forces on this mission lies on a borderline between two L-points. Depending on which side of the MCA forces you are on (a matter of a few km) determines which route the autopilot chooses to take you to your destination.
If you hit autopilot while on one side of the MCA fleet, you go the right way, and the mission plays as normal. If you start from the other side, the autopilot routes you through another way, and when the game sees you deviated from the "scripted" route, it tells the player they have failed.
The way around this minor bug is to manually jump through the L-point on this mission. As far as bugs go; it's an easy work-around.
Most games would never have this problem. If you're supposed to go a certain way, the computer makes the player take the correct way. The bug in this mission is the price we pay for a free-form space sim, where the player can really "go anywhere, do anything".
No confusion; just wrong or right ... Only Solutions
