I might have misunderstood you...it been known to happen...from time to time.
Its like the age old gripe of freelancer and the lack of a joystick mode. People would like to see it, but no one can do it..or wants to do it. But...its a good game.
The X Series of games are simply that. They are really unlike other games. I can't say think in real-time when you play, as I really don't know what real-time space travel would be like LOL.
But, X² and all of its predicessors have been based on fighting and trade. Not giving you money for kills and such.
X-Wing and Free Space, those are mission based games.
X² is not really a mission based game. You are free to do what you want within the scope of the game no real beginning so to speak and no end. There IS a Story line...but you don't really have to play a Story line game either.
Yes there are some people that like sim flight/strategy games. Its not for everyone, but for those that like it, its pretty awsome.
There were alot of things that the game lacks to be completely honest, but the thing is...no one really knows how to implememnt alot of what people want in the game.
I-War I&II...there was and still is room for improvement. You can't talk to people, you can't go trading on a whim to get better weapons unless you've reached a certain level.
Actually, the post was more supposed to be about wheather or not X² was worth it to buy.
See what happens when we get carried away?? lmao

I think its a great game and it delivers the graphics.
The flight model is pretty good. And its like actually being there.
Pirates can attack at will...Enemy fighters can come our of nowhere.
You can fly through nebulae and a few astroids.
Sure...there are a couple patches that you might need..but they make the game a little better. the flight is NOT like I War I or II...Its X².
You can trade, own more than one ship and have them escort you all over the galaxy.
You can take missions to earn money...and you might actually have to look for certain missions as well.
As far as patches go, Egosoft has them on their website and they become available once you register your game. There are even Enhancement packs for the game as well making the enemy even more deadly...I think its worth it to be honest.
Oh...almost forgot...
Its the only game that I've ever run across that you can actually CAPTURE enemy ships and use them or sell them for the money ;)
I War and The X series of games happen to be one of the few that were ahead of their time when they came out...now...their at the top of the charts I would say. Unfortunately, as I said before, I don't see an I War III coming out anytime soon. I hope I'm mistaken...really...I want them to prove me wrong...honest I do LOL.
Hmmm...was this a bit better this time??
Oh..wait
On the Warchild Scale system
I rate X²TT (The threat) **** (Four Stars) you need patches.
:D
Cheers

X2 looks cool but i got roadblocked when you have to do the minefield thing. it took about 10 minutes to approach, and then i got blown up. Couldn't understnad why, and didn't want to waste another 10 minutes. That was that.
Maybe x3 will be better.
