How do you save in game?

Can you save in game or is the only save feature the auto-save? I'm a total noob and am getting frustrated with this game. I can't get past the second mission (the package one) I guess I just suck but I was decent with games like X-WIng alliance. However, I'm getting frustrated with having to repeat all the dialogue mission setups and stuff. There is no Save option in the option screen. Is there a QUCIKSAVE? Could someone please tell me how to save in game? Appreciate any help!

You can only save game at the base, but you can save more than one save game by pressing escape while in the base, and selecting save from the menu.

If I remember correctly someone has or is doing a mod that allows you save outside the base, try asking at the ina site if I'm right or wrong you'll soon be told.

See I told you that would fix it.

Go to GrandpaTrout's EOC mod site and get StationSave; this lets you save while docked with any station, not just your own. It might break missions because (i) The missions might be dodgily-coded in the first place, and not allow saving mid-mission, and (ii) It doesn't really save at any station -- it teleports you between your base and wherever you saved. So, even if a mission is designed to allow for mid-mission saving, if it monitors your location (escort job, for instance), it might still break.
