Does unzipping resource.zip increase performance?

And if so, by how much? I've got plenty of extra space on my hard disk, and I wouldn't mind an increase of 10 fps or so. I'm one of those people who absolutely must have his games look as good as they possibly can, framerate be damned, and it can get a little sluggish with a few dozen ships on screen at once.

I didn't notice an increase on performance after I unzipped my resource.zip. Some say they did but only slightly. Nowhere near 10 fps though, I don't think. What got annoying was that my loading times increased a bit, but that might have been cause I've been modding stuff and messing things up.

If you unzip your resource.zip, it is important to do it before installing the F14.6 patch, otherwise it will partially unpatch your game. If you need help figuring out how to get the patch to install again, email me.
