installing mods w/o F14.6

Are there ways to install mods without having the f14.6 patch?

Theoretically yes, although it would be a lot of work.

But why? I can't think of any reason to run the game without the patch: it fixed a lot of things.

I had a little accident with my game disc before the patch release, so my CD-ROM won´t read it anymore :[ Although I got the no-cd crack from who-knows-what-***hole I´m afraid that the patch will ask the disk. What about crack, I deleted it accidentially with the folder in which it was with all kind of other crap.

Well, I got the ship changes work, anyway

Check megagames.com they have a 14.6 crack so that you can install, update and play without the Play Disc, handy if you don't want to use the disc that often gheghe
