How can I use mods?

I went looking for the FAQ but could not find this answer. So I will put it here an sticky it.

First you must patch your game. That will create the directory to place the mods and create an "Extras" menu item in the main menu.

Download the mod you like and place it in the /mods directory where you installed EoC.

Then start EoC and at the main menu choose "Extras". Here you will find a list of the mods you have placed into your /mods directory. Click on a mod to read about it and to turn it on.

Either load or start a new game. The mod will be active in the game. Depending on the mod, it will change the game.

Look inside the mod to find more specific install instructions. Some mods have large effects on the game. And some mods are installed in a different fashion (Torn Stars uses an install program).

You should be warned that some mods were designed to work together. You must have all the pieces or the mod will not work. MultiMod is required for many, many mods. Make sure you down load that one.
