save game doesn't work

G'day, I've got the same problem for several weeks now and don't know how to fix (oviously, otherwise I wouldn't post here:)). After destroying all three marauder bases in act 2 Igo back to base and save. When I then try to load that savegame, I return to the base with the correct background, I even can still sitch the pictures but there is now menu on the left side. I cannot get with esc in the save and finish aso. menu. Same with the autosave if I started afterwards to fly around a bit...
I have version 8.0(?) that's what it says in the readme, pretty old, when I think, that I just got it last year...

After you destroy the three marauder bases, you should be being taken to the final battle of that mission.

Try instaling the 14.6 patch. Im not sure if your savegames will still be valid, but there are saves available from this site if you need to get back to where you are.

Yes installing the patch did it, even the savegame works
