Issue with Wolf's Lair Mission

So I just took this game back out of my CD collection to play again, and it seems I have an issue with the Wolf's Lair mission. I know I am spose to follow the Marauders to an L-point from a distress signal, but there is a small problem trying to follow that simple step.

I approach the distress signal in the Firefrost System. I then target one of the Marauders and select Follow from the Autopilot Menu. At that point I follow for a bit, throw some shot into them and the go into hyper. The issue is my ship just sits there and doesn't follow the other ship into hyper and it leaves my contact list. I know I could *try* to follow it in Hyper manually, but that’s very hard to do.

Anyone around that still reads these forums have a suggestion? Thanks.

I had this problem too. as far as i can tell, its a bit of a 1 in 100 kinda thing. If you have a pursuit autopilot, try and pursue the marauders, also try not to shoot them. That scares em off. just hang around and watch them kill the helpless convoys and make sure your autoplit formate or pursuit is on. Good luck!

I'm in that spot, too. I've successfully followed them to L-Points, and they appeared like they were queuing up to jump, but they keep getting shot up by tugs and interceptors while at the L-Point. I would get within 30km of a distress signal location, and wait for them to start leaving, then I'd Formate with one and follow. Heck, I could even Formate before that, and as long as I made sure my Docking Turret was off, they didn't attack me. Once (the last time I tried it this evening), I did just that again, and was keeping pace <100m from the one I was following, when they just disappeared. They didn't drop out of LDS, they just vanished. Very frustrating, so I threw in the towl for the night.

They hae to run their script through to completion. So, if you attack them, their off that script and your out of luck. Stealth to the maximum (on principle, they dont appear to pay any attention regardless, but it cant hurt. As long as you dont have an active docking turret with you), formate on them after they take out a convoy and get lucky. They dont seem to react to being shot at by other people, so you might have some luck if you actively escort them through the L-point, as long as you have them targeted when they jump.

I finally succeeded. It helps if you go to a dead or low-traffic L-Point and then go to a distress signal near that. The Marauders will head back to the nearest L-Point. Much less likely that they'll be shot up.
