I played that one similar myself. I remote piloted their craft to just with its weapon range. Then I began picking off mines. I made sure to always stay just with weapon range. Around 6-7 km I think. The countdown never started. I destroyed all mines then moved for the cargo pod. The countdown started and I had all the time I needed. Easy.
