Balancing advanced patcom

It appears we all agree advanced patcom is overpowered.
It has maneuverability of a storm petrel and firepower of heavy corvette.

Are there any suggestions for a more balanced version of it?
I actually prefere it to heavy corvette, because it is much harder to hit, while having practically the same firepower.

I believe that it should at leats be without the automatic turrets (by the way i believe point defence should be better or at least have a better AI because it doesn't seem to hit any missiles)

I don't believe lowering hitpoints is an ansewer because in my oppinion all hit points in the game should be doubled at least, the systems should be more vulnerable (including yours) and fighters and interceptors should have less hit points compared to patcoms and corvettes because they are so much harder to hit. In my experience it is a far easier task to kill 5 corvettes than 5 fighters... Ai loadouts should be better also..

These are just some of my thoughts considering balance.

Is there a complete mod out there that would do all that? If it's not i'm going to write it!:)

Have you tried the Elite Mod? The currently available version does deal with some balancing issues concerning the Patcom (and all the player ships, incidentally). The Elite Mod also does exactly what you desire in that it doubles ship hitpoints (roughly) and makes internals more vulnerable to damage. It also does improve several AI loadouts. [|)]

Just don't expect Nova Heavy Cruisers to be easy picking anymore. [8D]
