Marauder bounties

The Stepsons tell you that you will get bounties by killing Marauders. How does this work? Do you just get new or better trades on the trade screen or do I maybe have to go somewhere to get them?

That's really just the game telling you 'marauders are now your official enemy'. I don't believe there's any actual reward.

I fell for that too on my first time through the game

I found a little marauder fighter in a cargo pod on one of the Mega freighters (not saying who's freighter it was because of the spoiler potential.

I shot it down to about 3% , docked to it and took it to every Stepsons station I could find. lol! But, they just shot at it and hit me too.
