Put this game down ohhh years ago, and picked it back up, even dusted off the Sidewinder and thought "Thar be treasure... with laser cannons!" unfortunatly my last experiance of this game was some time ago and well... never really gave it the time and thought i should have... so back to "Thar be treasure"... running from memory the last time i played this i found alot of those so called transports dont carry anything, i assume if its got the little cube cargo pods dotting its hull then its a target... if not it isn't?

The main reason i put the game down was due to frustration not knowing what to hit, when to hit it and how. Im not a bad pilot IMHO, but if you dont know how to attack, chances are you are a dead man flying... or at least floating, possibly in bits, and that isnt much in the way of profitable.

So i guess it comes down to; No Pods no target?

Any help is appreciated and its nice to see an old game still supported

Another question... are there any mods out there that give a few more freighters to slap about before taking thier lunch money? if someone was in the process or starting such a mod, id happy to help with my meager 3D modeling skills.

Many Thanks

Hi Spyre. Welcome to the board.

In short; yes. Any ship which carries cargo pods is a freighter and will drop them when damaged to a significant degree. With SNRV's (the flatbed ones) it only takes a shot or two. A Venice won't drop it's cargo until it's lost over half of its hit points.

If you're early on in the game (Act I and Act II), then you have to pick your pirating targets carefully. A freighter carrying expensive cargo also has a stronger escort for protection, and with the ships and weaponry available in Act I you can get overwhelmed quickly.

We (modders) cannot alter the traffic scripts for Eoc... we can only replace them with new traffic scripts (which I believe the Epic modders are working on) or adjust the stations and station population in the area to influence what cargo is carried where. So you probably won't find a mod which just adds more freighters. Sorry. [:(]
