new ships

i may sound like an idiot but here it goes any ways I cant seem to figure out how to get another ship to pilot i have been playing the tug about 2/3 of the way through but i just cant figure it out, got to use to freelancer i guess, i knw it is something stupid & i shouldent have to ask.........i have read my manual several times to no avail

New ships only come along with the storyline; you cannot buy them or anything. You'll be recieving a nifty new patcom sometime during act 2, and many consider it to be the best ship in the game.
