Huge wide blue beams

I like my beams thats my beams , but I noticed an interesting litle bug last night or even an enemy weapon , on the penultimate missile where you have to fly to christmas L point and defend it I accidentally fired (in twos) a bunch of pulsars and some disrupters into the aliens , this resulted in a alien hurt roar and then a huge wide blue beam (x3 the size of my patcom , though thin rather like a homeworld Ion cannon beam) which chased me as I was strafing up and left which I managed to avoid , and shoot back killing the alien and the beam.

Has anybody else seen this or had this happen?

Does anybody want to see this happen ? say like capital ships rather than weedy gat cannon rounds have huge blue beams which chase you all over the place ?

Yes it has happened to me as well. Its pretty weird and cool, it adds to the FEARAGE that those aliens bring.
