Gats are worth a fortune in FutureTrader, which opens up a serious exploit: you can trade some pretty crappy commodities for them in the "special trades" window (formerly the "only place you could trade" window), then sell them at nearby stations for huge profits.

Certain military techs, like Remote Missiles, ECM Decoys, Gats, Autorepairs, and CPU's to name a few, are particularly prone to abuse. A few hundred credits' worth of food, ore, and such like can be turned into several tens of thousands' worth of weaponry and ship components.
