Ifleet and free form mode was created by Snowyhands
what would be good about capturing a station? and about the rest of the system, future trader and station assult.
Ive beaten the game again and im trying to explore free form mode more.
Im trying ifleet again, but i dont really see the point in much of the rest- ie I will get bored in less than an hour.
so what would make free form mode fun? what have you tried?

The trouble with freeform is that by the time it activates, your ship's capabilities put you roughly on a par with the entire Alliance Navy.
One solution is to apply the Elite mod which makes everything much harder. Or there was a script made which stripped you back down to the starting configuration, but I don't think thats up for download anywhere. Search the forum for it.

What about multiplayer? There are tons of options and it never gets boring 'cause it's populated by people and humans always do different things. You could set up a "Universal Trade Center" and deal with weapons for EOC.
If at first no one joins and you get really bored you can take 8 valuable cargo pods into an MP game and openly dare anyone to try and steal one from you in a post in the forums here.
Like andrewas posted, the "Fresh_Start mod" strips you down to 1 ship and a few minimum necessities. Although it works fine I never released it for general use, if you want it, send me an email and I'll send it to you. it's just a few kb in size.

I heard multiplayer for this game wasnt persistent and was more or less sessions and matches, not really my style for a space sim, fps's are different.
what do you mean universal trade center? do you get to make a station?

Sure, you can set up your own persistant trade center, for example you can have:
16 valuable cargo pods well protected inside an indestructable "Warehouse".
2 Gunstars protecting the forward entrance to your warehouse
2 Armed stations protecting the other entrance to your warehouse
1 well armed escort ship that you can use to go out and greet other online traders with.
How?
Start a server in dedicated mode and host one of the cargo trade games.
Go into your single player game and get a load of cargo (8 pods). Join your server in beta team with your Verona freighter. Dock the pods to your ship, procede to the Large hollow asteroid and undock your pods inside it.
Leave the game and re-join with a Pioneer ship. Fly over to the large hollow asteroid and deploy your 2 Gunstars around the unprotected entrance (the entrance facing Alpha base).
Leave the MP game, go back to you SP game and get 8 more pods. Put them in your asteroid too.
Leave the MP game and re-join with your favorite escort ship, scout or fighter.
That won't take you more than 10-15 minutes and you're all set up for trade!
Additionally you could also:
- Advertise your goods and special offers in the forum.
- Get a buddy to manage your trading post when you are gone: (you can leave the server anytime to get other cargo from your single play base or manufacture more ammo/missiles/T-Fighters there for trade in MP.)
- Set up a teamspeak server on your PC so you can actually talk to other players and negotiate deals when they come online
Currently the game is admittedly only as persistant as you are. i.e when you shut down your server, you close your shop. But, everything you put on the map stays there as long as the server is up. (Or untill you take it with you back to your SP game)
I'm working on making it really persistant by adding a database so when you restart a server everything will be as you left it.
There is a thread discussing ideas for an expanded persistant online game down in the what_rocks forum. Please join in and help develop the next generation of trade games[8D]
