installing mods

Greetings!

I've downloaded the Jaf's mod and the starmap mod, and placed them in the mods folder in their zipped state. Neither works. Do I have to start a new game to enable them?

Get the 14.6 patch if you haven't already. Then you should be able to enable these mods through the extras menu.

You don't have to start a new game.
You have to have the "multimod mod" too for those mods to work
Activate the 3 mods in the extras screen.
After they are activated quit the game all the way to your desktop and then restart it.
Should work then.
