In Game Saves

Are there any mod's or patches that allow for in game saves? I put the game away several months ago because it was taking me 5 minutes to fly from Lucrecias Base back through the various jump points to get to the action again every time I had to reload because of getting waxed. I'd really like to finish this game but this aspect of it is more trouble than it's worth.

If I'm not wrong there is a mod that when you dock to certain "bases" (Stations, Casino, ect) it will let you save, but I'm not sure where that mod is try: Look I found it!
