How do I save game?

I just picked this up. Usually I like flight sims but this has me interested. The "space flight" dynamics are kind of cool. Anyhoo...How do I save my progress? I can't seem to find the save feature and I'm getting frustrated having to complete missions multiple times to move on. TX!
