Games won't play

Hi

I have played Independence WarII Edge Of Chaos 5 times and completed all of them. Oh by the way I have Windows XP.
I wanted more so I got Independence War The Starship Simulator and Independence War Deluxe Edition. The games install fine but when I go to play them nothing happens. Can you help me with this.
You see I'm a BIG fan of these games. So please help.

Are you using the backward O/S compatibility when making the shortcuts

Also make sure you're running in software mode.

I want and changed it to 95 and still nothing works.
I need more help than that

what do u mean software mode

The old I-War gave you the option of 3DFX or Software mode - meaning the graphics are handled through software rendering. The 3DFX was built (as a later edition) for Voodoo graphic cards. If you didn't have the Voodoo card you had to run it in software mode. The same would apply today as it's highly unlikely you have an early Voodoo card with your XP.
