Notes on the Commonwealth Ship List.

Go to Ship List.
For the purposes of this guide, it is assumed
the events of 'Division' and subsequent missions have not yet taken place.
The advent of SecPat will be taken into account in a later revision
When I first started to compile the ship list, I thought
that (as with all such things) there were going to be several problems
thrown up. However, it became quickly apparent that there weren't quite
as many as I had at first anticipated, this is a great credit to the game's
programmers and designers. Having said that, there are a few points that
it's probably best if I explain.
-
In the intro movie, we see the Destroyer Havard with
the registry number CNV-222. However, later on in the game (during the
mission 'Under New Ownership'), the captain of the Destroyer Budapest
states that his ship has that number. I'm assuming that the Havard
'really' has that registry number, because it can actually be seen
in the game, and that the Budapest's captain was just having a bad
day and read out the wrong number. I've given the Budapest the conjectural
registry CNV-223.
-
The Tripoli's registry number (CNV-355) was taken
from the video clip in the mission 'Routine Patrol' which sees the Tripoli
and the Dreadnaught travelling alongside each other.
-
The intro movie features a section where Admiral Brett is
standing in front of a screen listing a lot of Commonwealth ships, along
with their registry numbers. Those ships whose names I have been able to
make out have been included in the listing, but it is possible that some
of the names and registry numbers are wrong. Sorry.
-
We know that the Dreadnaught was the prototype for
all the other Corvettes that followed and that the Alabama was the
first fighter-carrier of her class, so it's assumed that there were prototypes
for all the other ship classes.

Since this revision was finalised, Russell Patterson (owner
of the Independence Movement
I-War site) has worked out a way of getting some of the 'hidden' missions
in the game to work. Although in later revisions of the guide many of the
ships seen in these missions will be ignored (under the premise that, because
they were removed from the game, they are not 'officially' part of the
universe), one will: the Omaha. This is an LST, a ship-class mentionned
in the DOCs of the game and seen in some of the publicity shots. The Omaha
is the first LST and, therefore, all current LST models are Omaha-class.
